In a heartfelt tale of the deep bond between a man and his beloved canine companion, we meet Carlos Fresco and his loyal 10-year-old dog named Monty. Monty held a unique place in Carlos’s heart, akin to a cherished friend and family member. Carlos’s love for Monty knew no bounds, and as time went by, their connection only deepened.

However, their story took a poignant turn when Monty was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite receiving chemotherapy treatment, Monty’s leukemia made a cruel return, significantly impacting his health and causing him considerable pain.

Carlos, deeply concerned for Monty’s well-being, was determined to ensure that Monty’s remaining days were filled with happiness and cherished moments. He embarked on a mission to revisit their favorite places and engage in activities that Monty loved. Carlos placed Monty gently in a wheelbarrow and lovingly pushed him to the places that held precious memories for both of them.

The sight of Monty sitting contentedly in the wheelbarrow, as they visited familiar haunts, was profoundly emotional. Their journey took them on hikes to scenic mountain tops and other cherished spots. Along the way, many kind-hearted hikers and strangers joined their adventure, offering Monty companionship and adding to the joy of these outings. It was evident that Monty relished every moment of these experiences, particularly his treasured hike to a mountaintop in Wales.

Carlos saw this as his way of honoring Monty, a dog with an infectious happiness that radiated to everyone around him. Monty’s joyful spirit made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.

Tragically, Monty’s journey came to an end on June 21st, 2021, leaving many hearts heavy with sorrow. Carlos still holds onto the treasured memories he shared with Monty and remains profoundly grateful for their enduring friendship. As we bid farewell to Monty, we wish him eternal peace.
