Heartfelt Hospitality – Embracing Strays with Free Food at Our Restaurant

Five years ago, a heartwarming story unfolded at Gerardo Ortiz’s Peruvian restaurant, Ajilalo. A hungry, homeless dog found its way to the restaurant’s entrance, seeking solace.

Instead of turning the dog away, Gerardo responded with kindness, offering the canine a specially prepared, delightful lunch. This compassionate gesture marked the beginning of a touching tradition that continues today. The once-homeless dog has become a cherished regular, enjoying a complimentary dinner at Gerardo’s restaurant every evening. This story serves as a beautiful testament to the enduring connection between humans and animals, fostered through acts of compassion and shared meals.

The news of the man’s generosity and compassion towards stray animals spread rapidly throughout the town. Soon enough, a growing number of dogs started arriving, and Gerardo, true to form, greeted each new guest with a satisfying dinner.

Currently, Gerardo’s restaurant has become a regular stop for many homeless dogs. Some are familiar faces, while others are just passing through. Regardless of their status, all these dogs share a common experience – the chance to alleviate their hunger with the delightful food provided by the kind-hearted man. Gerardo’s benevolent actions have transformed his restaurant into a haven, ensuring that these animals not only find nourishment but also a sense of comfort in their visits.

To verify the legitimacy of the rumor suggesting a complimentary meal, the man consistently gazes into the eyes of new puppies during his work hours.

The gestures of the restaurant owner have deeply touched the human patrons. At times, moved by these actions, customers even bring food for the stray dogs.

In a conversation with The Dodo, Gerardo shared his perspective, saying, “In my view, they’re our finest customers. Fortunately, our customers seem to have a fondness for dogs, showering them with love and respect.

They don’t give us money; instead, they show appreciation with smiles and wagging tails. We find joy in giving, valuing the act more than what we receive. Since I was little, I’ve always been fascinated by animals. My mom taught us the importance of helping both people and animals. She’s my role model.
